Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and [Legal entity name] ("SchemGen", "we", "us") covering your use of the SchemGen website and app. By creating an account or using the service you accept them.

Last updated August 12, 2026

1. Your account

You need an account to use the app. Sign up with an email address you control, or with Google. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password private, and you agree to give us an accurate email address so we can reach you about security and billing. Accounts are for one person — do not share credentials or resell access.

You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to enter a contract where you live.

2. What the service does — and what it is not

SchemGen turns a plain-English description of a circuit into a schematic and a KiCad file, using large language models. The output is generated automatically. It is a starting point for your own design work, not a reviewed engineering deliverable.

You must have every generated design reviewed by a qualified person before building, ordering, powering, or relying on it. Generated schematics may contain incorrect part numbers, pinouts, component values, or connections, and may omit protection, decoupling, or safety features that a real design needs. Do not use the service as the sole basis for anything where a fault could cause injury, death, or significant loss — including medical, automotive, aerospace, industrial-control, mains-voltage, or life-safety applications.

3. Free requests

Every account gets 10 free generation requests once its email address has been verified. No payment method is required to sign up or to use them. The grant is one-time: it does not reset monthly, and once it is spent you need a paid plan to keep generating.

Free requests are granted at our discretion, once per person, and we may withdraw them if they are being abused — for example by creating multiple accounts to get more of them.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Paid plans (Hobby ($10/month), Pro ($30/month), Max ($50/month)) are billed monthly in advance and each includes a monthly allowance of generation requests. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.

  • Upgrades take effect immediately: your billing date resets to today, you are charged for the new plan, and unused time on the old plan is credited.
  • Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep what you paid for until then.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. You keep access until then and are not charged again. You can cancel any time from your settings page.
  • Failed payments give you a short grace period, after which access to the app stops until payment succeeds.

Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable and we do not refund partial months or unused requests. If you think you were charged in error, email support@schemgen.com and we will look into it.

We may change prices or plan allowances. If a change affects your plan, we will tell you by email first, and it will not apply until your next billing period.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service to design anything illegal, or anything intended to cause harm to people or property
  • work around quotas, rate limits, or entitlement checks — including by creating extra accounts
  • resell, sublicense, or provide the service to third parties as your own
  • automate access outside the app's own interface, scrape it, or use it to build a competing model or dataset
  • attempt to access other users' accounts, chats, or data
  • probe, overload, or interfere with the service or the infrastructure behind it
  • upload content you have no right to share, or that contains someone else's confidential information

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we may apply rate limits or other technical measures to protect the service.

6. Your content and the output

You keep ownership of the prompts, files, and other content you send. You grant us the licence we need to operate the service — to store your content, to send it to the model providers described in our Privacy Policy, and to display it back to you.

As between you and us, the schematics, design notes, and firmware the service generates for you are yours to use for any lawful purpose, including commercially. We claim no ownership of them. Because models can generate similar output for similar prompts, we cannot promise your output is unique, and you are responsible for checking that using it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

We own the service itself — the site, the app, the parts catalog, the compiler, and everything else we built. These terms do not give you any rights to it beyond using it as intended.

7. Availability and changes

We do not promise any particular uptime. We may change, add, or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance or because a provider we depend on is unavailable. If we discontinue the service entirely while you are on a paid plan, we will refund the unused portion of your current period.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. We do not warrant that generated designs are correct, complete, manufacturable, or fit for your purpose, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, neither we nor our suppliers are liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or the cost of hardware, components, fabrication, or rework — including anything arising from a design the service generated. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.

10. Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable losses, including legal costs, from third-party claims arising out of your use of the service in breach of these terms, or out of anything you built from its output.

11. Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if your payments fail, or if we are required to. When an account closes, access ends and we delete or anonymise its data in line with our Privacy Policy. The sections on content ownership, disclaimers, liability, and indemnity survive termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [State / country], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. Nothing here removes a consumer-protection right you have where you live that cannot be waived.
